We are excited to be able to offer two six-month work experience placements, starting as soon as possible, that would suit a recently-qualified student in Hospitality and/or catering.
The posts are Kitchen Assisstant and Hospitality Co-Ordinator/House Manager; both posts are live-in, with all meals and bills fully covered and currently a ‘stipend’ of £50 per week. The hours are flexible, basically 9-5, with two days off per week.

The kitchen post involves helping to plan and produce high quality vegetarian meals with a minimum of wastage. Liase with the garden for available produce on a daily basis and work with the kitchen co-ordinator to keep the kitchen running to fulfil the needs of the community and guesthouse.

The House role involves being responsible for the comfort and welfare of our guests and the domestic running of our 12 room, 42 beds Country Guest House (a Grade II listed Victorian Rectory) near Lyme Regis, which provides B&B and fully-catered accommodation for a wide range of guests, and is also a registered Independent Hostel. We also have a campsite with outdoor kitchen and other facilities. Bookings are made via our office, an Eviivo system, so the person will be involved with the administration as well as the practical work.

Monkton Wyld Court as a whole is run by a friendly and diverse resident community of around nine adults, with volunteers, so there is always help and support available. It is a registered charity (no. 306217) with education as a main objective, so the person will be in a broadly educational environment: there are many opportunities for learning a range of skills beyond the narrowly domestic; there is a lively social life, a shared car for outings, and various other staff benefits.
